Ingrid is Ellen's mother, and was responsible for killing Ryan and Renaldo seventeen years before the start of the story, saying that she did so to protect her daughter.
When the villagers of Doolin reference the Hag, they are talking about Ingrid.
Oddly, Ingrid's eyes appear to have a silver shine to them, as seen in Chapter 6.
Etymology[]
- Ingrid is of Scandinavian and Old Norse origin, and it means "Ing's beauty". It references Norse mythology: Ing, the god of earth's fertility, rides the land each year to prepare it for spring planting.
